Born Elizabeth Marie Spraggins, in Philadelphia, PA, Alura is a military brat. the daughter of parents who serving in the US Armed Forces (US Naval Reserve) at the time she was born; soon after her birth they were transferred to and then stationed in Florence, Italy. The family, a little over a year later, were transferred back to the U.S., as they settled back in the Philadelphia, PA area, eventually settling in nearby Camden, NJ., where she was raised. After graduating from high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy herself (just like her parents) and worked for a decade as a physical rehabilitation specialist for both the US Navy and US Army. During this time, Alura met her first husband, had two children, and pretty much, at that time, lived a suburban lifestyle. After her two pregnancies she gained a lot of weight, which eventually swelled up to 260 lbs. (118 kg) where she then began a strict diet / fitness and exercise regimen to try get back in shape and regain her former figure, which included a new found passion for bodybuilding.

In 2010, Alura filed for divorce from her husband and a leave of absence from the Armed Forces, eventually getting a discharge from the military to move to Las Vegas, NV, where she began working as a stripper at the Palomino Club. At this stage she also started as an erotic and bondage model.
