She placed third in the Miss Italia 1987 competition, but won the title after the repetition of the final due to the disqualification of the first winner Mirca Viola, who turned out to be married and a mother, in violation of the regulations of the time. On the same occasion she also obtained the title of Miss Elegance and the following year she became Miss Europe 1988.
