About Anett Kontaveit
Anett Kontaveit (Estonian pronunciation: [aˈnetː ˈkon.taˈveit]; born 24 December 1995) is an Estonian professional tennis player. She has been ranked as high as world No. 2 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), which she first achieved on 6 June 2022, making her the highest-ranked Estonian player in history. In 2021, she became the first Estonian to participate in the WTA Finals, where she reached the final. Kontaveit also holds a career-high ranking of No. 95 in doubles, achieved on 2 March 2020.
Kontaveit has won six singles titles on the WTA Tour as well as eleven singles titles and five doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. She produced her best performance at a major by reaching the quarterfinals at the 2020 Australian Open. She has reached two WTA 1000 (formerly WTA Premier) finals at the 2018 Wuhan Open and 2022 Qatar Open.
Kontaveit won the Estonian Championships in 2009, the youngest player to do so, and successfully defended her title in 2010.
