Gunilla Hutton is an accomplished Swedish-American actress, singer and entertainer who has been active in the entertainment industry since the mid-1960s. She is best known for her roles on television shows such as Petticoat Junction, Hee Haw and Love American Style.
Born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1944, Gunilla moved to the United States with her family at the age of three. She grew up in California, where she studied drama and music at San Jose State University. After college, she moved to Hollywood and began appearing in a variety of television series, including Bewitched (where she played Samantha’s cousin), The Flying Nun and The Monkees. Her first major role came when she was cast as Billie Jo Bradley on Petticoat Junction from 1968 to 1970.
In 1969, Gunilla married actor/musician David Hooks and they had two children together before divorcing in 1972. In 1971, she joined the country-western themed variety show Hee Haw as one of its recurring cast members. She remained with the show until 1993 and served as its sole female host from 1986 to 1989. During this period, Gunilla also appeared on other television shows such as Love American Style and Mama’s Family.
In addition to her acting career, Gunilla has released several albums over the years featuring her own singing style of country-western music. Her most recent album was released in 2010 titled “The Best Of…” which includes some of her greatest hits from throughout her career as well as some new material.
Gunilla continues to perform live concerts throughout the U.S., Europe and Canada showcasing her amazing vocal talents along with classic country-western songs from Hee Haw era that made her famous around the world!
