About Juhi Chawla
Juhi Chawla (born 13 November 1967) is an Indian actress, film producer and entrepreneur. After winning the 1984 Miss India beauty pageant, Chawla went on to become one of the established heroines in Hindi Cinema since late 1980s, and is known for her comic timing and vivacious on-screen persona. She has won two Filmfare Awards out of eleven nominations.[1][2][3][4]
Chawla made her acting debut with the film Sultanat (1986), and had her breakthrough with the tragic romance Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), where she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She established herself as a leading actress in Hindi cinema in the decade following, receiving acclaim for her roles in Lootere (1993), Aaina (1993), Darr (1993), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, Deewana Mastana (1997), Yes Boss (1997) and Ishq (1997).[5]
In the 2000s, Chawla began working with independent filmmakers in art-house projects, garnering praise for her performances in Jhankaar Beats (2003), 3 Deewarein (2003), My Brother Nikhil (2005), I Am (2011) and Gulaab Gang (2014).[6][7] Moreover, she starred in several Punjabi films, including the biopics Shaheed Udham Singh (2000), Des Hoyaa Pardes (2004), Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris (2006) and Sukhmani – Hope for Life (2010).
Along with her husband Jay Mehta and Shah Rukh Khan, she is the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. Along with Khan, she was the founder of the production company Dreamz Unlimited, which produced three films, starting with their self-starring Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000). Among her television work, she featured as a judge on the third season of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
