Kendra Sutherland's colorful career began when she while enrolled at Oregon State University in Corvallis and unable to secure a job. She was then was lured to MyFreeCams, a site where girls strip and chat with users who pay them in real time. The user’s prediction about a public place was right and she earned about $700 for less than two hours work. Weeks later, she dropped out of college and started doing MyFreeCams shows up to five times a week.

In January 2015, a recorded video of the library show was uploaded to Pornhub by an anonymous user. She was soon recognized by a fellow university student and became a local celebrity. However, it also caught the attention of the local police and on January 27, 2015 she was arrested for public indecency.

Shortly after her arrest the video went viral and Kendra quickly shot to fame. The original version of the video was viewed almost 300,000 times in the few days following her arrest before being removed from Pornhub. Various versions of the video, ranging from five minutes to half an hour (though Sunderland recalls the actual show lasting more than an hour), have been republished over a large number of porn sites, with many versions accumulating several million views each.

Videos of her older webcam shows have also begun to surface on pornographic websites, including one where she has sex with her boyfriend. Kendra quickly took advantage of her newfound fame. She returned to doing webcam shows on February 14, after making a deal with FriendFinder Networks to create PlayWithKendra.com - a website devoted entirely to making her shows.

On February 19, she launched her own dating website called DateBrokeCollegeGirls.com. She said the reason she created the site was "to match college girls like me who are struggling to pay for school and looking for a rich older boyfriend. Hopefully this will keep them from getting naked in the library and help them use it to study!"

On February 27 she signed a deal with Pipedream Products to create her very own line of sex toys.On March 4 she had her breasts, vagina and anus molded for the toys.The "Kendra Sunderland Collection" was released on March 19 and consists of a "Love Doll," the "Eager Beaver" (a stroker molded from her vagina) and the "Cutie Booty" (a stroker molded from her anus).

On February 18 she accomplished a lifelong ambition of posing for Playboy. Her pictures were published on Playboy's website in early March, however, they were not featured in the magazine.

On February 20 she posed for a photo shoot with Penthouse. The photos will be released in a four page spread in the May edition of the magazine.

On March 20 she was interviewed by Eila Adams for Naked News.The interview was featured in the episode which was released on April 24. Both Eila Adams and Kendra are fully naked during the interview. She also auditioned to become an anchor on the show. Her audition was filmed and shown as part of the episode released on April 26.

Kendra appeared in court on April 28, 2015 on charges of Public Indecency for masturbating in the public library of Oregon State University. If found guilty she could have faced up to a year in jail and a $6,250 fine. On September 23 she appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge misdemeanor public indecency, and was fined $1,000.
