About Kessler Twins
Natives of Nerchau, a town in Saxony, which after the Second World War was included in the German Democratic Republic, they attended dance school from the age of six. At eleven they entered the adolescent program of the Leipzig Opera and, at eighteen, they fled the GDR and took refuge in West Germany to pursue a career as dancers at the Palladium in Düsseldorf.
Between 1955 and 1960 they performed at the Lido in Paris with Margaret Kelly's Bluebell Girls dance troupe; in 1959 they represented West Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing eighth with Heute Abend wollen wir tanzen geh'n. In the same period they performed in various films, mainly musical comedies, almost all of which had never been released in Italy.
