About Lyrica Okano
Lyrica Okano was born November 9, 1994, and she is best known for her starring role as Nico Minoru in the Hulu series Marvel's Runaways. From teen drama icons Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C. / Gossip Girl), Marvel's Runaways followed a group of diverse teenagers who discovered their parents were all part of a supervillain group called the Pride. They then run away from home and try to find a way to escape their parents, all while dealing with their own emerging powers, hormones, and personal issues. As the female lead of the series, Lyrica played an integral part in the shift for more inclusion of Asian Americans and women of color in television and film for portraying one of the first LGBTQ Asian female superheroes for the Marvel Universe. Born and raised in New York City, Lyrica's past television credits include a recurring role on Showtime's hit series The Affair, Unforgettable (CBS), and The Michael J. Fox Show (FOX). On stage, Lyrica starred in The Juilliard School production of Macbeth, as well as the Off-Broadway production of 4,000 Miles which was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. On the film side of things, Lyrica starred alongside Keke Palmer in the indie film PIMP which followed the hustle and dangers that women face working in the illegal sex trade in New York. Prior to acting, Lyrica was a professional athlete, who trained in Rhythmic Gymnast for the U.S. National team and was a Pre-Olympic Competitor. She is currently a black belt in Karate.
