About Rosemary McGrotha
Rosemary McGrotha is a 1970's and 1980's high fashion cover, print and runway model perhaps best known for being featured in the now iconic 1992 ad campaign “In Women We Trust” for fashion designer Donna Karan. The campaign depicted McGrotha as the first female president being sworn in and running her life as well as the USA, while wearing low cut but tasteful clothing.
McGrotha's "D cup bosom", as Vogue magazine put it in a 1992 special feature on her, places her as one of largest breasted American high fashion models of all time. Numerous model one sheets and f.a.q. websites for high fashion modeling agencies frequently list McGrotha as the only D cup in her weight range.
Jeff Bercovici of Womens' Wear Daily magazine described the Karan campaign nearly fifteen years later in 2004:
"...when the time came to put a person into the picture, the person selected was model Rosemary McGrotha. Dark-haired and relatively full-figured, as fashion models go, she was depicted in the fall 1986 campaign riding around town in the back of a limousine, boarding an airplane laden with bags or dressing herself in a messy bedroom with a baby nearby. The idea was to create images that would reflect Karan’s own glamorous but hectic life..."
Donna Karan herself told Haaretz an Israel fashion website, that "...once the body in the magazines was fuller. Rosemary McGrotha, for example - I could only shoot her from the waist up."
