About Yaroslava Mahuchikh
Yaroslava Oleksiyivna Mahuchikh (Ukrainian: Ярослава Олексіївна Магучіх; pronounced [jarosˈɫawa maˈɦutʃix]; born 19 September 2001) is a Ukrainian high jumper. She is the current world record holder.
Mahuchikh was the 2020 Summer Olympics bronze medalist, 2019 and 2022 World Championships silver medalist. She has won the gold medal at the 2021 and 2023 European Indoor Championships, 2022 World Indoor Championships, 2022 and 2024 European Championships and 2023 World Championships. She won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in high jump.
In July 2024, Mahuchikh broke Stefka Kostadinovas 37-year-old world record with a jump of 2.10 m at the Diamond League event in Paris. In 2021, she achieved her indoor personal best of 2.06 m, which is also a national record.
As of December 2024, Yaroslava has amassed 441,000 followers on Instagram.
She is engaged to Nazar Stepanov, a Ukrainian hurdler and their national record holder, who is the son of Mahuchikh's coach Tetiana Stepanova.
In October 2024, Mahuchikh told Athletistic in an interview that she had to postpone her wedding with Nazar because they wanted to hold their wedding with relatives and friends, then scattered all over the world, gathered in Ukraine, where it was impossible to do so because of the Russian invasion.
