Zoe Saldana (born June 19, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey) is an American actress known for her roles in the movies "Avatar", "The Book of Life", and "The Guardians of the Galaxy". She's done advertisements with Calvin Klein and Roca Wear.

Thin and beautiful Zoe first made waves when she co-starred in the otherwise horrendous film "Crossroads" alongside pop music star Britney Spears. The film was indeed a crossroad; Spears soon began to fall, while Saldana's career took off.

Saldana was born in New Jersey to Dominican parents, but was raised in Queens, New York. As a youth, her father died which caused her family to move back to the Dominican Republic. There she remained until her mother decided to move back to The States after her sophomore year in high school. Back in the US, Saldana enrolled in acting classes while flipping burgers at a local Burger King. In retrospect, Saldana may be the hottest Burger King Employee of all time. She got her big break in 2000 with a role in the dance movie Centerstage and never looked back. Her former fellow Burger King employees are still reeling from this loss.

In 2009, Saldana said she would avoid plastic surgery, telling Women's Health magazine "God as my witness, I am going to try to do everything I can to keep this ass together for as long as I possibly can—without going against nature." She has posed nude for Women's Health. She watches what she eats but does not diet and does Pilates regularly saying "It's the closest thing to dance."

(Addendum 2023: Zoe is much in the public eye these days as the star of the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY film franchise--#3 coming soon to a theater near you!--and has largely made her career starring in various science-fiction oriented film franchises including the AVATAR series--of which only half are in current release--as well as the Star Trek film reboot INTO DARKNESS. She has performed in three of the highest-grossing films of all times, and is noted as the 2nd-highest-grossing film acress and 4th-highest earning actor overall. Married 2013, 2 kids.)
