About Mayra Dias Gomes
Daughter of playwright Dias Gomes and actress Bernadeth Lyzio. She is the goddaughter of Jorge Amado and Zélia Gattai.
Mayra Dias Gomes was born in Rio de Janeiro and studied at the Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro until she was 15 years old.
Mayra grew up in an environment of literature, theater and television, and began writing as a child. She wrote in diaries from the age of eight until she was fifteen, when she started writing a blog on the internet. During his childhood, his favorite activities were writing and producing scripts and plays, and writing songs.
Mayra Dias Gomes wrote her first autofiction book, Fugalaça, in 2007 at the age of 17. At 19, it was published by Editora Record. Fugalaça was written during Mayra's depression, which revealed that she had suffered catharsis. The work became an underground Brazilian phenomenon and an instant portrait of an immediate generation incapable of dealing with frustrations. Satine, the main character, is the author's alter-ego, who, like her narrator, suffered from the sudden death of her father during her pre-adolescence and became involved in a world of drugs, obsessive passions, and rock music.
