Mercedes is an Ottawa-based journalist and military analyst. She is currently the host of Global Television Network's Sunday morning talk show The West Block.
She received a BA in political science from the University of Calgary. She did post-graduate studies at the University of Calgary Centre for Military and Strategic Studies. She studied economics and media ethics at Georgetown University. She also worked as an intern at The Pentagon and was a visiting research student at the MIT Center for International Studies.
