On 4 February 1950 she married David Michael Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven, at Washington, D.C. They divorced in 1954 at Mexico. Her third marriage was to James Busch Orthwein. They married on 10 July 1964 at New York City, New York. They had one daughter. Romaine Orthwein died at age 51 at New York City, New York.
