Tang Jiali, born in 1976, was a lesser-known actress until 2002, when she collaborated with Zhang Xulong to release her first body-art book, Tang Jiali Art Nude Photography. This sparked major controversy in China, bringing her fame but also criticism for publishing nude photos, which disrupted her career and life. In 2003, defying the backlash, she released a second book with bolder poses and Photoshop-enhanced images, particularly her breasts, making it more sexually provocative. Critics called it borderline pornographic, and it became widely used by young men for sexual fantasies, ranking her as the top search on Baidu in China. In 2006, she has published a documentary of her body-art creation, called Dancer Tang Jiali.
