About Amanda Nolan
Amanda Nolan (known by her username Amandumb) is an American content creator and singer of Caucasian and Japanese heritage, known for lip-sync, dance, and singing content. Nolan, who has also lived in Tokyo part-time growing up, is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she studied human and organizational development; she is also the only child of veteran Nashville television meteorologist Davis Nolan.
She originally rose to social media fame on TikTok in 2020, primarily for her original music (mostly a cappella) and comedy videos, which included an original song about inadvertently being “friendzoned” by boys obliviousness to her romantic interest in them, and covers of songs from the Disney animated series “Phineas & Ferb” (which resulted in Nolan becoming among several content creators—such as Sofia Gomez, whom Nolan befriended through TikTok and collaborated on several videos, including covers of songs from the show—mentored by series creator/voice actor Dan Povenmire).
Nolan eventually began posting content focusing on Japanese culture as well as translated covers of American pop songs performed in the Japanese “Citypop” style (a pop music genre influenced by American music); among her most viewed song covers was her rendition of Kate Bush’s "Running Up That Hill” that received over 2 million views. As of September 2024, Nolan has more than 700,000 followers on TikTok, 114,000 followers on Instagram and 78,600 subscribers on YouTube.
