Juliana Couto Paes (born March 26, 1979) is a Brazilian actress and former model. She became nationally known in telenovelas and modelling. She also starred a local version of the musical The Producers, as Ulla. Considered one of the main sex symbols in the country and three times the sexiest woman in the world by Vip magazine, Paes won several awards for her roles on television, including Arte Qualidade Brasil, Best of the Year, Press Trophy and APCA Trophy. Paes became known for her work on TV Globo, where she debuted at the end of the 1990s as an extra. Her first notable works were as the maid Rita in Laços de Família (2000) and as the social climber Karla in The Clone (2001).
Personal life
On September 9, 2008, Juliana married businessman Carlos Eduardo Baptista.
On December 16, 2010, her first son, Pedro, was born through a cesarean section in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
At the end of 2012, the actress stated that she was pregnant again. On July 21, 2013, the couple's second son, Antônio, was born at the Perinatal maternity hospital in Barra da Tijuca, the same hospital where the actress gave birth to Pedro.
As for religion, Paes declares that she was raised in Umbanda , and that she has been attending services in terreiros since she was two years old; "My grandmother was a terreiro leader. All my spiritual discovery was through this thread." The actress has already stated that she likes spiritual literature and believes in reincarnation
