….Modelling Career….
Upon leaving school Smillie decided to study at the Glasgow School of Art. To supplement her income Smillie joined a modelling agency as a part-time model. After a year at Art School, Smillie decided a career in Art wasn’t for her, and left Art School to become a full time model. Smillie then embarked on an extensive career in modelling throughout the 1980s.
Smillie’s model work portfolio included all aspects of the industry, such as Fashion, Runway, Promotional, Swimsuit, Lingerie and Glamour modelling, including posing nude.
Smillie became a much in demand model, and worked extensively around Scotland and the UK, plus occasionally Europe based photo shoots and model shows.
One of her regular photographers commented that Smillie was “One of the best and most professional models on the UK circuit in the 80s”. He added “Often the work would be on a strict budget, and Smilie was quite happy to do her own makeup for shoots, as we often had no makeup artists for the model in those days. If we were shooting lingerie and nude sessions, she would ensure she wore no underwear when travelling, to avoid any indentations from the underwear on her skin. Smillie had a great understanding for modelling work.
Smillie left her full time modelling career when she entered the world of television presenting, though she still posed for various promotional/advertising campaigns alongside her TV work. Smillie has continued to be in demand for modelling work to the present day, even in her 50s, and still occasionally models for photo shoots and ad campaigns.
During her glamour modelling career, Smillie's breasts were a natural B cup. They increased in size to a D cup after giving birth to her first child. Since then they have settled at a C cup.
