About Debbie Boostrom

Debbie Boostrom was born on June 23, 1955, in Peoria, Illinois. Raised in the sunny, warm environment of Largo, Florida, she developed a love for the beach and outdoor adventures. Growing up with Swedish and German ancestry, she inherited both a love for the ocean and an appreciation for traditional family values. Her journey towards becoming a Playmate began when she was still a young woman, dreaming of a life by the sea, which eventually led her to California, where she found the beauty and freedom she sought.

In her early adulthood, Debbie embarked on a road trip across the United States with her then-boyfriend. Their adventure was one of freedom and discovery, camping out in mountains and deserts, eventually settling in La Jolla, California after visiting multiple states. It was here that she realized that California's beach lifestyle was exactly what she was looking for.

Career Overview
Debbie Boostrom's career in modeling took off when she was selected as Playboy's Playmate of the Month for the August 1981 issue, a significant milestone in her career. Her centerfold was photographed by renowned photographer Mario Casilli, capturing her natural beauty and appeal. At the time, she was living in Florida, a location that helped emphasize her sun-kissed, all-American looks.

Playboy and Other Publications:
Following her success in Playboy, Debbie Boostrom gained international recognition. She graced the pages of Playboy in various editions around the world, including Playboy Australia, Playboy France, Playboy Japan, Playboy Mexico, and Playboy Spain, all in 1981. Her spread was well-received, making her one of the most celebrated Playmates of her time.

Post-Playboy Career:
After her time as Playmate, Debbie's life took a few personal turns. She married a beer distributor and moved to Kansas, but after their marriage ended, she relocated back to Florida. During this time, she focused on jewelry design and acted in infomercials. Her work in this period is lesser-known but highlights her creative interests beyond modeling.

Personal Life
Debbie was a down-to-earth woman who sought a simpler, quieter life outside the spotlight. Despite her success as a Playboy model, she preferred a homebody lifestyle, enjoying hobbies like macramé, needlepoint, and cooking. She was particularly proud of her Swedish-German heritage and had a passion for cooking, with lasagna being her specialty.

Debbie's family was incredibly supportive of her modeling career, and her grandmother even thought it was wonderful that Debbie posed for Playboy. Her family admired her for staying grounded and true to herself despite the fame that came with being a Playmate.

Debbie's dream was to have a happy marriage and a large family. She longed for a life by the water, where she could balance family and personal happiness. However, her personal life took a tragic turn.

Marriage and Family:
Debbie married a beer distributor in Kansas but later divorced. She did not remarry and was not known to have children. There is no public information about her dating life after her divorce.

Tragic Death
On July 29, 2008, Debbie was found dead in her apartment from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had been suffering from terminal breast cancer, which was reportedly the catalyst for her tragic decision. Her death at the age of 53 shocked those who knew her, and her passing marked the end of a chapter in the life of one of Playboy's beloved Playmates.

I did not know about her suicide. A shame she felt that was the only way to go.

On a brighter note, I never did see those lovely backside pictures previously submitted. She had delicious curves to her breasts, hips and ass -- curves that were made to be displayed to males. Too bad her time on this earth was too short.

It was the only way to go for her. I've known two people who suffered excruciating pain with terminal cancer. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to suffer as they did!

Terminal cancer........ pretty makes it hard not to consider granted doctors are wrong at times cancer isnt fun to go through let alone when its likely terminal. Im just shocked it wasnt a different more sutle method. Women rarely she themselves shows she felt no other options & watched to be sure. Tragic all the way around. She deserved better.
