Diane "DeDe" Gayle Lind (1947-2020) was a glamour model and Playmate famous for her 1960's nude appearances in Playboy magazine.
In 1961, at age 14, Lind was discovered at a local pool in Burbank, California by photographer Leon Beauchemin. This led to two appearances on the cover of Teen magazine. Small roles on The Donna Reed Show and Leave it to Beaver followed, and she did a few television commercials.
DeDe married her high school sweetheart right after graduating at the age of 17. The young couple moved to San Diego and DeDe gave birth to a son. The marriage lasted only a year.
Her photographer friend Leon talked her into testing for Playboy. At 18, she was selected to be the Playboy Playmate of the Month for August 1967. The photography was done by Mario Casilli. The magazine received a record number of fan mail. She became one of the most popular Playmates of the 1960's.
One of the props used during her photo session was a Coca Cola bottle. Hugh Hefner was a loyal Pepsi drinker, and ordered a re-shoot with a Pepsi bottle.
DeDe was no longer in demand as a teen model, but the Playboy appearance did open some doors for her. She modeled for some European magazines, but passed up most modelling assignments in order to have more time for herself.
DeDe remarried in the 1970s and continued her association with Playboy, attending special events and parties as well as Friday and Sunday night movies at the Playboy Mansion.
She appeared in the December 1979 issue of Playmates Forever and, in the early 1980's, in the first "Playmate Playoffs" special issue. Her video appearances for Playboy included Race Horses and a frontal-nudity appearance on a sailing yacht.
She retired in 1985 and moved to Florida with her husband. Three years later, they separated. DeDe began appearing at the Glamourcon shows in 1994, along with Cynthia Myers and Debra Jo Fondren.
DeDe died 02/04/2020 from ovarian cancer, in Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 72.
